Spotify Now Requires FaceBook
There are many applications that link to FaceBook. Some of the apps that I make regular use of are included in this list: FourSquare, Twitter, Klout, various games and toys, etc. But I've always had the choice whether to link them to FaceBook. I've chosen to do this in some cases, and not in others. All good, it's my choice. But apparently, Spotify now requires you to link to a FaceBook account or your can't use their services. That's right, no FaceBook, no Spotify. Hmm.
I've been a long term user of Spotify. It was linked to my twitter account, and knew about my FaceBook, but didn't have the rights to publish things. That was on purpose. Except, yesterday, it started publishing notes to my FaceBook profile. I realised why. My girlfriend had probably clicked this link inside the Spotify app on my iMac at home:
Spotify upgrades itself when ever you run it, and you have to keep up-to-date because their servers eventually don't work for you with an old client. So we're all going to have to make a choice here. Spotify with FaceBook, or no Spotify at all.
